Urban Governance and Resilience

The Urban Governance and Resilience team develops forward-looking approaches for resilient, connected, and capable municipalities and organizations. We work on innovative concepts at the intersection of governance, digitalization, resilience research, crisis management, and sustainable urban development. Our focus lies on integrated governance models, urban resilience strategies, cross-organizational decision-making processes, and digital tools that enable transformation, innovation, and value creation in urban spaces.

Our thematic focus encompasses the advancement of complex urban systems, from municipalities and infrastructures to neighborhoods, organizations, and regional ecosystems. The team investigates how data-driven methods, simulation-based scenarios, participatory decision-making environments, and resilient organizational structures can sustainably improve real-world planning, management, and crisis contexts.

In addition to application-oriented research, the team strengthens the development of new innovation formats and their transfer into administration, business, and society. This lays the foundation for cities and organizations to act robustly, learn continuously, and adapt effectively, confidently addressing the challenges of the future, transformation processes, and dynamic crises.
