Climate Transition Strategies

The Climate Transition Strategies team develops pathways for climate change adaptation, mitigation, and a just transition in urban systems. We help decision-makers address climate risks, reduce emissions, and design resilient, equitable development models for districts, cities, and regions. Our work combines integrated assessment, evidence-based planning, and participatory approaches to deliver robust, future-proof transformation strategies. We also coordinate large grants and programmes, drawing on our experience in Horizon Europe Mission Cities, Smart Cities Lighthouse Communities, and City Labs.

We focus on the intersection of climate resilience, socio-technical innovation, and urban governance. Through scenario building, roadmapping, impact monitoring, and evaluation, we guide municipalities, industry partners, and communities in implementing socially inclusive, climate-responsive strategies. Our expertise spans nature-based solutions, societal acceptance of new technologies, spatial assessment with geo-referenced information systems, the urban decarbonisation strategy evaluation, and integrated governance models. We provide frameworks for the meaningful implementation of climate action solutions. By bridging science, policy, and innovation, we strengthen adaptive capacity, accelerate decarbonisation, and ensure no one is left behind.
