Rethinking mobility and collaborating to redesign it

Electromobility, automated driving and vehicle-sharing concepts have the potential to radically reshape our mobility landscape. These trends open up attractive opportunities for new business models – both for established players and for companies looking to use innovative solutions to tap new market segments.

Fraunhofer IAO specializes in supporting the development of sustainable mobility strategies and charging infrastructure concepts as well as the business models that accompany them. We

  • compile mobility strategies for communities and regions, make practical recommendations and provide support for putting them into practice,
  • analyze the economic and ecological potential of sustainable mobility solutions, thus creating a reliable basis for decision making,
  • analyze markets and trends in technology and society systematically, and provide conceptual and creative advice in the development of new business models as well as
  • create strategies for setting up and implementing semi-public and public charging infrastructures, including site selection.

We offer a sound knowledge advantage and an outstanding network in an area that is becoming increasingly dependent on cross-sector collaboration. In joint research projects, we bring together representatives from communities, regions and the automotive, energy and ICT industries.
