Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO
Dear Sir or Madam,

the coronavirus crisis has made digital work a reality overnight. Just how important it is to take advantage of the opportunities offered by digitisation and AI at an early stage is particularly evident in these difficult times. Especially now, we would like to support our customers and partners - and we are happy to break new ground for this. Together with our colleagues from the Fraunhofer IPA, we are currently testing a new type of measurement method at the Robert Bosch Hospital in Stuttgart that helps to detect people infected with coronavirus from a safe distance. It is now also possible to explore our laboratory worlds from a distance. In the "FutureWork360" project we used virtual reality technologies to make our real laboratories in Stuttgart accessible from any location and at any time.

New approaches and solutions are currently demanded, especially in professional interaction. Our researchers use social networks to pass on quickly applicable practical tips, uncomplicated assistance and point out possible solutions during and out of the crisis.

I wish you valuable impetus - especially for the current challenges, but also for the future. Take new virtual paths and stay healthy!

Kind regards

Dr. Stephan Wilhelm
Head of Marketing and Communication

Contactless measurement method detects infections
“Access checker” remotely measures body temperature in addition to heart and breathing rate

An innovative measurement method is helping to detect people infected with coronavirus from a safe distance. It detects fever, increased pulse rates and fast breathing without endangering the person conducting the testing. Fraunhofer IPA and Fraunhofer IAO are currently testing the procedure at the Robert Bosch Hospital in Stuttgart.
