From researcher to entrepreneur

Each year, around 50 of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft's staff take the plunge into the world of self-employment by founding their own company. This is a positive development that we actively support. It opens up yet another opportunity to achieve our goal of transferring innovations and know-how out of the research community and into the business world.

The Fraunhofer-Venture-Gruppe acts as a highly-skilled partner for staff eager to embark on their own spin-off project by providing support and advice from the idea stage right through to the founding of the company.

The last few years have also seen numerous spin-offs involving former employees of the Fraunhofer IAO, leading to the creation of more than 600 high-quality new jobs.
