The basis for all work undertaken at the Fraunhofer-Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO is a deep conviction that business success in a globalised arena is contingent on an ability to profitably leverage new high-tech potentials. In order to optimally exploit these opportunities, companies must be capable of developing and implementing customer and employee-oriented technologies faster than their competitors. Work organisation concepts must be simultaneously innovative and anthropocentric. A systematic design, in other words, is the outcome of pooled management and technical expertise. This holistic perspective when it comes to project processing ensures that equal consideration is given to commercial success, employees’ interests and social consequences.
Through its close cooperation with the Institute for Human Factors and Technology Management (IAT) of the University of Stuttgart, Fraunhofer IAO unites basic university research with applied science and business practice.
European Trend Survey ; Management Summary including the Survey on the European Payments Market
The third European trend survey »Banks & Future« was conducted at the turn of the year 2008-2009. It therefore was influenced by the global financial crisis and its impact on bank management. The shock of the financial crisis and the onset of recession in many countries are drivers for change in the European banking markets, even though some aspects of change in the banking business were already indicated before the global crisis as a sign of ongoing changes in the banking sector in general. The impact of the global financial crisis therefore is only one – although major – challenge for bank management. Banks also have to cope with changing customer behaviour that requires a push for innovation and new business models that encourage customer interaction.
SWOP offers a radically new and extensible approach for ICT support in fast and flexible
production of customised but industrialised complex products and services.
The SWOP approach is a breakthrough in manufacturing, which will be validated by four business cases.
It combines a generic, open, semantic, standard-based, distributed engineering platform with
intensive input of knowledge capital of engineering and expertise expressed in parametric object
catalogues together with reference design patterns.
The platform bases on two tightly integrated state-of-the-art ICT technologies with high potential
for business application and impact:
Semantic Web technologies and
Genetic Algorithms for smart manipulation of semantic data.
Fraunhofer Enterprise Grids offers you a broad line-up of consulting, services and software solutions in the technology areas of Grid, Service Oriented Architectures and IT Virtualisation.
Furthermore you obtain complete solutions beginning with the custom-made product of efficient algorithms, software applications and services up to the operation of the IT infrastructure needed for it on the resources of the Fraunhofer Society.
Lab 2020 is official supporter of "Labs21" - a "green lab" initiative to optimize the sustainability of lab design, construction and operation.
We kindly invite you to participate in the annual conference from September 22-24, 2009 in Indianapolis. Exhibitor registration is now open as well as the opportunity to submit papers to be presented at the conference .
This brochure demonstrates the innovative potential of nanotechnology for environmental technology companies in Hessen. It starts out with
a introduction to nanotechnology and its various functionalities on the basis of which the application
potential in environmental technology can be assessed. The application potential is then set
against the facilities already available in Hessen’s nanotechnology sector.
Examples of possible uses
for nanotechnology are provided by selected environmental technology applications in filtration, pollutant decomposition, catalysis and sensors.
